What are the electrical braking methods for three-phase asynchronous motors?

2023 12/14

Three phase asynchronous motor is a type of AC motor, also known as induction motor. It has a series of advantages such as simple structure, easy manufacturing, durability, convenient maintenance, low cost, and low price. Therefore, it is widely used in industry, agriculture, national defense, aerospace, scientific research, construction, transportation, and people's daily lives. But its power factor is relatively low, which limits its application to some extent. Here, the Xinte Motor editor would like to express their views on the electrical braking and application scenarios of three-phase asynchronous motors:

Three phase asynchronous motor electrical braking commonly uses reverse braking, energy consumption braking, regenerative braking, and power generation braking.

Electrical braking is the process of generating an electromagnetic torque opposite to the direction of rotation during the stopping of an electric motor, which serves as a braking force to stop the motor from rotating. The methods of electrical braking include reverse braking, energy consumption braking, capacitor braking, and regenerative braking (also known as feedback braking, feedback braking, and power generation feedback braking). Mainly used in machine tools, cranes, and some commonly used automatic control systems.

Due to the fact that the rotor and stator of a three-phase asynchronous motor rotate in the same direction but at different speeds, resulting in a slip rate, it is called a three-phase asynchronous motor.

Three phase asynchronous motors are made into large motors. It is generally used in large industrial equipment with triple phase power.
6be92628d303445687faed09d07e2302_44A three-phase asynchronous motor with symmetrical 3-phase winding is fed with symmetrical 3-phase current, generating a rotating magnetic field. The magnetic field lines cut the rotor winding, and according to the principle of electromagnetic induction, e and i are generated in the rotor winding. The rotor winding is subjected to electromagnetic force in the magnetic field, which generates electromagnetic torque, causing the rotor to rotate. The rotor outputs mechanical energy and drives the mechanical load to rotate.

In an AC motor, when the stator winding passes through an AC current, an armature electromotive force is established, which has a significant impact on the energy conversion and operational performance of the motor.

So when three-phase AC winding is connected to three-phase AC, pulsating magnetic electromotive force is generated, which can be decomposed into two rotating magnetic electromotive forces with equal amplitude and opposite speed, thus establishing forward and reverse magnetic fields in the air gap. These two rotating magnetic fields cut the rotor conductor and generate induced electromotive force and induced current in the rotor conductor, respectively.

Three phase asynchronous motors Y2 (IP55) series, Y (IP44) series, 0.75KW~315KW, with enclosed enclosures to prevent dust and water droplets from entering. Y2 is F-class insulation, Y is B-class insulation, used for various mechanical equipment without special requirements, such as metal cutting machines, water pumps, blowers, transportation machinery, etc.
